John has set-up a small farm over in the Shinjuku Gyoen park. It has four distinct beds for appropriate crops based on the season. Currently, in winter, three of the beds are covered in plastic to keep them prepared for warmer weather. The exposed bed is covered with plastic in the late afternoon to keep everything from freezing when the night comes on. The winter crops are radishes, winter lettuce, bok choy, onions, garlic, and spinach. The spring crops are asparagus, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celery, collard greens, peas, rhubarb, and strawberries. Oh, boy. ♥ If your character is friendly with John, then he may try to push spinach, lettuce, or collard greens on them since those grow rapidly.

Also, there are four trees nearby that have been cut down in order to graft the scions of fruit trees onto them. It is a method of getting fruit trees to produce fruit faster, since it gets to skip a few years of growth by using the established system of another tree. He is growing four different types of trees: Apricot, peach, plum, and apples. After a year, plums will be the first to produce fruit. The rest will take two or more years to have viable fruit.
